What GoType can and cannot see.
GoType is built on a simple principle: your words stay on your Mac. Here is exactly what that means in practice.
GoType is fully private by design and GDPR-friendly: all processing happens on your Mac, and your text and audio never leave your device.
What GoType can see
- The text in the focused text field, up to a short window around your cursor.
- The name of the active application, so suggestions can be adapted per app.
- Audio from your microphone — only while you are actively holding the push-to-talk key.
What GoType cannot see
- Text in password fields — macOS masks these from Accessibility APIs.
- Any text outside the focused field (other tabs, other apps, your clipboard unless you paste).
- Your microphone audio at any other time — GoType does not run background listening.
- Your keystrokes outside of text field context — GoType is not a keylogger.
- Any data sent to Anthropic, Apple, or any third party — all processing is on-device.

GoType runs a quantised language model directly on your Apple Silicon. Your text is never sent to a server — not even ours. The model and all inference stay on your Mac.
